Description:

The Communication & Program Manager provides communication and program management for the Center for Media & Social Impact (CMSI) in AU’s School of Communication. The incumbent will be responsible for handling social media outreach and other communications for the Center. Serves as the point person for inquiries, answering general questions, responding to research and opportunities, and distributing studies and information. Helps to coordinate events and outreach with SOC and AU communication and marketing staff to publicize Center activities and achievements.

The incumbent maintains records and oversight regarding the Center’ finances and prepares required reports in conjunction with the Director, and works with the appropriate departments of the University to assure timely processing a range of financial and HR transactions.  Manages consultants contributing to the work of the Center. This position requires excellent strategic writing skills (writing, research, citations), archival research skills (databases, news), strategic communication ability (for social media channels, e-newsletter) and event production skills and experience.

Educational Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master's degree is strongly preferred.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Two years professional program management experience
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and exhibit mature confidence interacting with high-profile constituents
  • Professionalism, flexibility and strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work independently, handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Must possess outstanding organizational abilities and good judgment
  • Strong computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, email, social networking and Internet technology
  • Exceptional writing skills
Preferred Requirements:
  • Familiarity with basic program budgeting and/or accounting is highly desirable
