Description:
The temporary event assistant will manage a portfolio of strategic, high-level events, many hosted by the President of American University, designed to advance the university’s philanthropic goals.  With the arrival of a new president, and an impending comprehensive campaign, this position will play an increasingly important role in the division’s strategy to engage prospects and donors. This position is integral to the success of the university’s major giving strategy.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree is required.
Minimum Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience 
  • Proven record of creation and execution of high-level donor events
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Excellent writing, oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skill
  • Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Successful candidate must be energetic self-starter, have the abilities to set priorities, and work independently              
  • Understanding of higher education and a commitment to the values and role of a private, liberal arts university
  • Familiarity with fundraising systems (Benefactor or Colleague Advancement a plus) 
  • Strong command of MS Office Suite of products.
