The Assistant Director, Annual Giving is responsible for the implementation and management of the direct marketing calendar, including direct mail, e-mail, and social media. The Assistant Director’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conceptualizing, writing, and editing solicitations and annual giving stewardship messages/campaigns for direct mail, email, and social media; managing direct mail, email, and social media projects with vendors and internal constituents from concept to completion; requesting and preparing data for mailing lists; and analyzing results and reporting on progress of appeals.    
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in training and experience required. Education, such as a Master’s degree, may contribute toward years of experience.
Minimum Requirements:
  • 2 years’ experience in annual giving for educational institutions or non-profit organizations
  • Excellent communication skills to include effective and persuasive writing and editing skills, and interpersonal relationship-building skills
  • Understanding of and interest in social media marketing a must
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word or Excel
  • Mature and professional attitude; energetic, detail oriented
  • Demonstrates an ability to effectively plan, implement, manage and monitor multiple projects
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience with direct marketing, with an emphasis on mail and email is highly desirable
  • Experience with databases, constituent management software, HTML, SmartCall telemarketing software, and MS Access helpful
Additional Information:
Ability to interact with people of all constituent groups on a one-on-one basis. Requires good stamina and the willingness to work occasional evening or weekend hours as needed.
